As I was composing this blog to incorporate my thoughts of leaving the old and entering the new, I read the following post by Zoro, an accomplished musician and performer. Known as Zoro, the Drummer, he shared some profound words that resonated with me. I would like to share them with you.

“Happy New Year!

And How To Get The Most Out of 2021!

2020 was a difficult and unprecedented year for all of us, but it is in the past now.

We have no choice but to move into the start of 2021.

What we CAN do

To get the most out of it we need to recalibrate our mind-set and cultivate a winning and positive attitude, not easily achieved in the face of adversity and uncertainty.

Focus on developing your true natural gifts rather than pursuing passions for which you are not gifted.

Spend more time actually thinking rather than just reacting out of sheer emotion.

Don’t waste your energy on heated arguments with people whose minds you’ll never change.

Be not merely interested in the acquisition of knowledge, but rather commit yourself to the application of practical wisdom that can actually change your life.

To know is not necessarily to do. The latter requires action.

Walk in grace by choosing to overlook the minor faults and offenses of others and rid yourself of the victim mentality that cripples so many and keeps them in a place of stagnation.

Instead, spend more time loving, forgiving, and maturing, for therein lies the keys to forward momentum, personal satisfaction and a sense of well-being.

Muster up the necessary courage to face your fears head on and you’ll be rewarded with an unbelievable confidence that cannot be purchased.

Visualize yourself breaking new ground and you will, for as a man thinks, so he is.

Time is the only commodity we have that cannot replenish itself. It comes in a limited supply. What we waist will never come back to us.

So stop squandering yours on meaningless activity and replace it with efforts that will make a positive difference on this planet.

Spend more of it taking small strategic steps toward a new goal of some kind and being a better person because those are the only things we have control over.

Lastly, walk by faith and never ever abandon hope. To be without either is like trying to live without oxygen or water.

In the same manner these elements are necessary for physical life, faith and hope are vital to health of the human spirit. Without them and some sense of optimism, you will be sentenced to walking the earth aimlessly in a morbid state of despair.

Remember, today is the beginning of the rest of your life and you will never live your greatest life or reach your full potential as a human being by accident.

Remember the old adage, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” The tough choices you make from here on out will determine the course of this coming year and the rest of your life, so choose wisely and remember you have more inner strength than you think you do.

And tough times give you the opportunity to mine it out.

I wish you all a truly blessed 2021 and a year of tremendous growth, breakthrough, and victory.

May it be filled with love, peace, hope, vision, restoration, purpose, acceleration and fulfillment!

Happy New Year to Each of You! Zoro”

In other words, each of us has our own journey. Each of us has our own purpose. Each of us is responsible for our own choices.
