Week 13 – Uninvited voices/Unsolicited opinions!!!!
Today started well. I was up before my alarm, determined to prioritize my MKE time. My usual pattern, every morning when my feet touch the floor, is to wander in the dark (wintertime) to my MKE area, settle in with a cozy lap blanket, and begin to write out my gratitude cards. I write out 4 cards each time, 3 things for which I am grateful and 1 about something that I accomplished or something that happened the day before that brought me joy that I want to remember. Once I have written out the cards, I shuffle them into a couple growing piles, pick one pile and start flashing. This is followed by reading the current scroll from The Greatest Salesman in the World, reading aloud my Blueprint Builder, my DMP, my Plan of Action, which includes the Law of Giving, and my SERVICE card. I feel this prepares me to receive and absorb the information offered in the Master Key lesson. Once read, it is SIT time! This is my absolute favorite time! My personal Louise rule is, I cannot have my SIT until I have done my readings. With Davene’s voice ringing in my brain – RELAX!!!!, I do not rush through any of it!!!
After all, I am wearing a compass to remind me I am living by the compass, not the clock!
Next on my POA is my workout. At the end of this month I have a running event. As of today, it is 9 days away. It is important to keep moving, maintain the endurance, and then rest the day before the event. Well, with less than 10 days to go, it is important to stay on task. But I needed to wait until it was light out before tackling a training run on a rather busy road – that has very adequate shoulders. So, while waiting for day to dawn, I had a very productive OATS session with my business partner. I was energized and ready. Ah, the light. Time for training.
When I open the door……its RAINING!!!!! It isn’t supposed to rain until afternoon. Oh well….. Still energized, I make some calls, do some household chores but I am still thinking about my POA, my promise to myself – I always keep my promises, and DO IT NOW!!! OK, OK, alright already…..I will just put on an extra layer. No one has ever died from running in the rain. I always keep my promises!!!
Today I have decided to run to a point that is about 6 miles. Off I go, equipped with my wonderful recording playing in my ears. As I shared in my previous blog, the piece of music I chose for my recording is 5 minutes long. It repeats several times as my recording is a few minutes over an hour. I quite expect I will need to hear my recording at least 1 1/2 times. The length of the piece is my gauge/pace setter.
As I walk up the driveway, the rain changes to mist. By the time I reach the road, there is no mist, but the sky is dark and there is a cold wind. As soon as I start running, I begin hearing another voice in addition to my voice on the recording. Sounds like my old blueprint giving an unsolicited opinion about how the cold will take lots of energy and there is no way I can make it to the 6 mile mark. My new blueprint interjects that a commitment has been made, so SHUT UP!!!!
An argument ensues and more voices join the discussion. At this point, I am actually having difficulty hearing my recording and the wonderful music.
This is nuts!!! Not one of these additional voices has been invited! But, my mistake was acknowledging the thoughts.
I had just read it, for the fifth time, Haanel, Master Keys, 13:16
Thought will bring about conditions in correspondence with the predominant mental attitude. Therefore, if we fear disaster, as fear is a powerful form of thought, disaster will be the certain result of our thinking. It is this form of thought which frequently sweeps away the result of many years of toil and effort.
All those uninvited voices were just speaking fear. And being that it is a powerful form of thought, why would I listen, let alone engage in a conversation? Oh, old blueprint, your talons are long and deep, but they are losing their grip.
The next paragraph speaks to the same power but with a predominant mental attitude of positiveness, the outcome is quite the opposite. Hallelujah!!! Then we are told ‘what’ in the next paragraph.
Haanel, Master Keys, 13:18
What, then, is the proper method of procedure? What are we to think in order to secure what we really desire? What you and I desire, what we all desire, what every one is seeking, is Happiness and Harmony. If we can be truly happy we shall have everything the world can give. If we are happy ourselves we can make others happy.
I would like to write that the uninvited voices were quieted, but what actually happened was me and my new blueprint forged ahead, not acknowledging the nay sayers. When we (I) arrived at the predetermined mark, the last I heard was that I wasn’t going to make it back, I would need to call my husband to pick me up. But the voices were drowned out by the shear jubilation at going the distance. As I looked at where I had come from, I noticed blue sky. The sun had come out and I saw my shapes everywhere. My recording was clear and the music uplifting. It was a great return run! I became so involved in what I was hearing, I paid no attention to how far I had come or how much further I had to go. The answer to either question would have been further and closer – all positive!!!
Law of Substitution:
We cannot think about 2 things at the same time. If a negative thought enters you mind ~ try to think about God instead. If that is too big a reach at the time, use any fond memory or other pleasant thought. Jesus, the Master Teacher, said, ” Resist not evil”~ meaning turn from it and think about something else instead.
Today has been a great day! It has been the culmination of every habit I have learned in MKE. I am so appreciative and grateful!!!
