Week 10 – What am I watering? or Ode to a city girl…….

Your life is like a garden

Your thoughts are the seeds.

If your life isn’t awesome,

You have been watering the weeds?

Just after starting our family, my husband, our first born, and I, moved into a small older home with a really cute garden.  All the flower beds were full of color.  The plants were fairly common, but the deep colors were like nothing I had ever seen.  I soon found out these particular flowering plants were ‘antique’ – not your typical greenhouse verity – because of their deep purple color.

Well, I wanted to be sure to be a good steward of this garden; watering, tilling, and weeding.   All seemed to be going well.  More color began to show up in the beds.  Now there were delicate plants with bright yellow flowers among the dark purple.  It really was brilliant to look at.  So I continued my diligent gardening.  It was easy because I didn’t have to do anything.  I was really quite proud of myself.

I was visited by one of my sisters, who is an avid gardener, so I wanted to show her around the beautiful flower beds.  My excited narrative was all about the beautiful color and the antique flowers.  I offered to dig some up if she would like to put them in her garden.  She said she would just take a few of the purple antique flowers.  I expressed my surprise in her not also wanting some of the yellow flowers.  In her sweetness and grace, she informed me the yellow flowers were weeds and she would help me remove them.  Oh brother!  What have I been watering?

What did I know about gardening?  I had moved after years of living in New York City to a beautiful Pacific Northwestern town!  My experience of successful gardening consisted of keeping a house plant alive while living in the city.   Ah, but did I ask?

This memory is so full of metaphors!

Flourishing weeds – feeding destructive thoughts even when they appear beneficial; lack of humbleness to seek advice

Easy garden -if there isn’t a plan, that which falls in your lap is probably not what you want.

My sister’s knowledge – the value of a Mastermind Alliance; all I needed to do was ASK, learn, and apply.

Decades later I am part of the Master Key Experience.  I don’t follow the arbitrary path of spilled water.

I know I have the ability to achieve the object of my Definite Purpose in life, therefore, I DEMAND of myself, persistence, continuous action toward its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action.  (Blueprint Builder, First)

Positive thought will destroy the negative as certainly as light destroys darkness, and the results will be just as effectual. (MK Part 9, Introduction)

No more caring for and propagating weeds – tilling the soil of my mind with up lifting and positive thoughts.  I am proceeding to care for and water the garden of my world within working in a Mastermind to ‘engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects’. (Blueprint Builder, Fifth)

I always keep my promises.

I just love this blogpost with the analogies! So descriptive and clearifying about the deeper meening with MKE and the connections in the material we are working with, and learning from.

Leanne

I love the analogies you give in your posts! They make the concept easier to understand. They are very creative as well. Thanks for sharing them.
